Description |
Bernard Palikapu (left) is with Bonepake Lapilio (right) holding his son, Iokewe Lapilio. Palikapu was originally from Hanalei, Kauai. On December 7, 1897, he was sent to Kalaupapa at the age of 27. He died on October 23, 1919. Palikapu served as a catechist for Father Joseph Julliotte. Bonepake Lapilio was originally from Kamoiliili. He was sent to Kalaupapa on February 25, 1889, at the age of seven. He married Luisa Lui and had several children, including Iokewe, who was born on February 21, 1905. In 1908, Iokeve was sent to the Kalihi Boys' Home on Oahu. |
